Visionary poet, musician and cultural icon Saul Williams joins forces with acclaimed percussionist, producer and sonic curator Carlos Niño for their first-ever Aotearoa performances this June.
Together, the duo have earned a GRAMMY Award nomination for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album for their collaborative project Saul Williams meets Carlos Niño & Friends - a fully improvised live recording that captures the depth of their creative connection.
Renowned for his powerful fusion of spoken word, hip hop and alternative music, Saul Williams has built a multidisciplinary career spanning music, film and literature. From his breakout role in Slam to critically acclaimed albums like Amethyst Rock Star and The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!, he remains one of the most vital and genre-defying voices in contemporary culture.
Carlos Niño is celebrated for his expansive, collaborative approach to sound, connecting generations of forward-thinking artists through his work as a producer, composer and bandleader, including his ongoing project Carlos Niño & Friends.
For audiences in Aotearoa, this is a rare opportunity to experience two singular artists sharing the stage delivering a live performance shaped by improvisation, connection and decades of creative evolution.
