Kirstin Hersh

Kristin Hersh & Jon Muq

Events

Indie icon Kristin Hersh (USA) and  fast-rising Jon Muq (Uganda) perform a not to be missed double-bill at the Tuning Fork, each revealing through full-length solo sets their respective unique and captivating songwriting approaches.

Kristin Hersh is back after her triumphant 2023 Aotearoa tour, performing career-spanning material from her solo and Throwing Muses.

We look forward to material representing Hersh’s 11 solo albums, embracing spellbinding vocals and guitar work, with songs ranging from the jaggedly dissonant to traditional folk. Hersh also performs songs from her first band, the legendary Throwing Muses - which she joined as a 14 year old and who release a new album Moonlight Concessions out in March.

Ugandan born, US-based Jon Muq opens the night with his mesmerising songs, drawing from African as well as western musical trends and traditions.

Jon Muq has just released Flying Away, which Magnet Magazine describes as ”one of the finest debuts of 2024”.  Issued on Dan Auberach’s Easy Eye Sound label, Muq effortlessly draws on elements of reggae, soul, R&B, Afrobeat and pop.
