The Tuning Fork is proud to announce the New Zealand debut of North Carolina-based Americana band, Hiss Golden Messenger. They will play their first New Zealand show on Friday 31st January 2020. The show announcement coincides with the release of brand new album Terms of Surrender on Merge Records via Flying Out.
Joining them is a very special guest, Aotearoa's treasured folk singer/songwriter, Nadia Reid.
For over ten years the profound songwriting and vocals of M.C. Taylor spearheaded this prolific, perpetually evolving group. He’s toured and recorded relentlessly, earning devotees along the roads, deep in festival pits, and across the seas, delivering earnest performances that morph from jammy freakout to private prayer in a matter of measures.
The acclaimed North Carolina band have already made an imprint in Aotearoa - Radio NZ's Nick Bollinger praised M.C Taylor for his "literate, hard-boiled lyrics" on Heart Like A Levee, a timeless Americana record. Graham Reid (elsewhere.co.nz) wrote in support, "the songs transcend spare folk and reach towards something literary and philosophical."
